    Anthony Blackman Scholars College Scholarship

    Application Deadline - May 31, 2025
  • The Anthony Blackman Scholars College Scholarship is an NCTF endowment created and funded by friends of Anthony Blackman to honor his memory and his remarkable contributions to tennis & our local community. This endowment fund will award two annual scholarships to college-bound residents of Wake County who embody Anthony’s passion for tennis and commitment of service back to the community.

Anthony was a major contributor to tennis. He wanted to expose kids to professional tennis to inspire them to do their best and see that dreams can come true. He hoped the Cary Tennis Classic would serve as a platform that gave back to high school players and the young volunteers who support the tournament and promote tennis across various populations. Because of his vision, the NCTF Anthony Blackman Scholars will grant, at a minimum, the following college scholarships each year:

    •         One $1500 one-year scholarship to a Wake County High School Senior who has participated on his/her high school tennis team for a minimum of two years.

    •         One $1500 one-year scholarship to a Wake County High School Senior who has volunteered in his/her community by giving back to tennis.

  • Both scholarships will be awarded based on contributions to the tennis community, sportsmanship, academic achievement, financial need, and a special emphasis on those who have been involved in the Cary Tennis Classic – a professional tennis event Anthony helped bring to Cary Tennis Park.

Scholarship awards will not be announced before June 15, 2025.
